This Roof was Covered in Moss, Lichen, and Algae
This old roof was no longer capable of protecting this home due to algae, moss, and lichen. The growth of these pests greatly diminishes the beauty of this home, and can cause shingle warping and breakage over time. All of these shingles will be removed by our crew members.
Preparing for the New Shingles
When the old shingles are removed from the roof, the wood decking underneath is exposed. This is when our crew takes a look at the wood and removes any damaged wood. This photo displays many important steps in the roof replacement process. On the left side of this photo, crew members are installing brand new plywood to the roof. On the right side, decking tape has been used to seal the edges of the plywood sheets, and Ice and Water Shield has already been applied to the bottom of the roof.
Installing New Shingles
At this time, all of the underlayment has been installed. In addition to the decking tape and Ice and Water Shield, our crew also installed Velora One Underlayment, which is the brown material applied towards the roof's ridge. Our crew is now installing new IKO Dynasty shingles for the bottom of the roof, up to the ridge.
New Ridge Vent
Once all of the shingles have been installed, our crew installed a vent along the ridge of this roof. This vent will release hot air from this home's attic, preventing condensation and mold. This photo shows our team members installing ridge caps on top of the ridge vent. This makes the vent blend in with the rest of the roof.
Beautiful New Shingles
These new IKO Dynasty shingles, in the color Castle Gray, make this roof look fantastic! These shingles don't just look incredible, but also provide incredible protection for this new roof. This homeowner can rest assured that their home will stay safe and dry, thanks to their reliable new roof.
