Shingle Staining and Lichen Growth
The existing roof on this house was very outdated. Lichen was growing on the shingles, which were also stained. Lichen growth on a roof is not only unappealing to the eye, but can also warp shingles over time, reducing the quality of protection provided by the roof. For these reasons this roof needed to be replaced.
Brand New Wood Decking
After removing all of the old shingles, our crew gets to work removing damaged wood decking. During this process our team can identify and solve any problems that the old roof had, such as holes, wood rot, and leaks. New plywood is installed all over the roof, and decking tape is used to boarder each plywood sheet. The decking tape will help prevent water from seeping in between the sheets of plywood
Protecting the New Roof
At this stage in the roof replacement process, the crew is preparing to install new shingles. In order to give this home high-quality protection, underlayment is installed underneath the shingles. In this photo we can see our team installing two types of underlayment on top of the new plywood. This protective measure keeps rain, snow, and ice from damaging the wood decking.
Laying Down the Shingles.
Finally it's time to install the new shingles. This customer chose the color Granite Black for their new IKO Dynasty shingles. Although all parts of the roof replacement process are important, the shingle installation may be the most exciting step for the homeowner. Now we can really see how this new roof will look.
A Job Well Done
The result of this roof replacement is as equally beautiful as it is reliable. The hard work of our team always produces a roof that will stand the test of time. This modern and lichen free new look is one that this homeowner can be proud of.
