Before we started our work.
Here you can see the algae and water marks all over the roof indicating a soaked decking layer and leaky shingles. If there is enough moisture on the roof for algae to grow then the roof is not doing its job redirecting water off the house.
Top down of the old roof
This is another look at the roof before we rip up all the damaged shingles. The front portion of the roof has minimal amounts of algae but the back of the house was covered and you can really see all the black marks left behind by it.
Old damaged decking layer
As we work our way up the roof we are ripping up the old decking layer and laying down our own plywood decking layer. The original decking layer that was built with the house was of the wood shake style and this style worked in its time is now outdated now.
Deck tape, Ice and Water, and Underlayment
In this photo you can see the three different materials we use to seal the house off from the elements. First we tape off all the seams where the plywood sheets are put together. Next we use SealeronXT Ice and Water to seal all the edges, valleys and peaks. Next we lay Velora Underlayment over the whole roof as a final weather barrier.
Almost done!
As we neared the end of the day our team is finishing up the last bits of the roof. Here you can see how we layer the shingles to ensure that water runs off the roof, we start at the bottom and layer our shingle one after the other all the way to the top.
Finished roof that looks amazing
By the end of the second day our team finished the roof and it looks fantastic. The colors perfectly match and having a matching garage that's moss and Algae free adds so much to this house. The Agamy's loved their new roof and were pleased to know that it is guaranteed for the next 50 years!
