30 Years of Toy Closet at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital: A Milestone of Joy and Compassion
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Anne Nyberg's donation event, the Toy Closet, at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. Three decades of unwavering commitment have seen thousands of children experiencing challenging times receive the gift of joy through this project.
This year's celebration is further elevated by the remarkable story of Whitney Vitale and her daughter Brynnley, who, at almost four years old, have not only been recipients of the Toy Closet's generosity but have also made significant contributions to paying it forward.
Brynnley, having spent several days and weeks in Yale's ER, ICU, and Pediatric floors, received multiple toys from the Toy Closet, each bringing a precious smile during difficult times. Now, a year after Brynnley's last stay at Yale, Whitney and Brynnley have taken it upon themselves to continue spreading joy to children at the hospital.
In recognition of their outstanding efforts, Whitney, alongside Steve Gentile of PinPoint
Promotions, has come up with the Brynnie Bear Cares Toy Collection project. Adorable Brynnie Bear Cares Toy Collection boxes have been placed throughout the community, awaiting the generosity of individuals willing to give toys. These gifts will be collected during the holiday season and delivered to the children at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital.
Eddie Griffin, the owner of Brown Roofing, has enthusiastically joined the cause, amplifying the community spirit that underlines the success of such initiatives. When asked if Brown Roofing would host one of the collection boxes, Eddie’s response was – "Brown Won't Let You Down!"
At Brown Roofing, the holiday spirit is in full swing as employees come together to support the Brynnie Bear Cares Toy Collection. A charming collection box, featuring the beloved Brynnie Bear, is proudly displayed by the entrance, urging everyone who walks through the door to join in spreading joy.
The collective efforts of Anne Nyberg, Whitney Vitale, Brynnley, Steve Gentile, Eddie Griffin, and the entire community stand as a testament to the enduring power of compassion and the positive impact that can be made when individuals come together for a greater cause.
As we celebrate 30 years of the Toy Closet, let us not only reflect on the joy it has brought to children but also look forward to the continued ripple effect of kindness that Whitney, Brynnley, and their community collaborators are creating for generations to come.
